Twin Elk Fire in Deer Creek Mesa/White Deer Valley Neighborhood
At 11:33 am Wednesday July 8 the volunteer firefighters, EMTs and paramedics of ICFPD were dispatched to a report of smoke in the area of Twin Elk Lane. The first firefighter to arrive on scene found a 1/2-acre wildfire in grass and brush moving toward two homes with a small wooden outbuilding burning. Firefighters, with the assistance of a private road crew, established a fireline around the fire. The assistance of the road crew using a small skid loader and already working on Twin Elk Lane was invaluable in creating a fireline.

ICFPD Strategic Plan for Coronavirus Management May 2020
Approved by ICFPD Board of Directors June 10, 2020
Executive Summary
ICFPD First Responders (firefighters, EMTs and paramedics) have a critical role in structural firefighting, wildland firefighting and prehospital emergency care and must continue to provide these essential services. During the coronavirus pandemic, workloads have increased, and staff sizes may diminish as employees and their families become ill or are quarantined. Contingency planning for three time periods can mitigate the worst impact.
ICFPD Board of Directors Agrees to Contract for Architectural, Engineering and Project Management Services
The Board of Directors of Inter-Canyon Fire Protection District (ICFPD) has approved a contract for architectural, engineering and project management services for fire station improvements. The contract with F&D International of Boulder follows one year of discussions and negotiations on services. Station one, 7939 South Turkey Creek Road in Morrison, was begun in the 1950s and has been expanded many times in the years since. The station does not meet National Fire Protection Administration (NFPA) requirements for firefighter health and safety and has inadequate space for future needs.
New Command Vehicle Added to Our Fleet
Thanks to the voters of ICFPD for their support. As part of our five year strategic plan we have added a new command vehicle to our fleet. The new vehicle, used primarily by Fire Chief Skip Shirlaw, provides enhanced radio communication capability, Emergency Medical Services equipment, and fire tools. The vehicle can respond quickly to incidents across the district, providing on scene command functions and support.
