The Board of Directors of Inter-Canyon Fire Protection District (ICFPD) has approved a contract for architectural, engineering and project management services for fire station improvements. The contract with F&D International of Boulder follows one year of discussions and negotiations on services. Station one, 7939 South Turkey Creek Road in Morrison, was begun in the 1950s and has been expanded many times in the years since. The station does not meet National Fire Protection Administration (NFPA) requirements for firefighter health and safety and has inadequate space for future needs. Station one, the most centrally located of ICFPD’s five stations, will be rebuilt with expansion of the facility and utilizing the apparatus bays which were added 15 years ago. Expansion will include space for administration and crew quarters as ICFPD prepares to serve residents across the district. Station three, 8445 South Highway 285, does not meet NFPA requirements for firefighter health and safety. Additional space for training, apparatus and equipment is needed to serve current and future needs. F&D International has been involved with design and project management services for fire stations and public buildings across Colorado.
The cost of the F&D services is $760,000. ICFPD will seek resident input on design in a series of community meetings to be held in the summer of 2020. Information on the meetings will be released later as design concepts become available. ICFPD provides structural fire protection, wildland firefighting, and emergency medical services for 6,000 residents across 52 square miles. ICFPD volunteer firefighters, EMTs and paramedics respond to approximately 450 emergency calls each year.
